Re: Mutual support for remote anth student
Hi Molly and/or Giorgia, Just writing per Molly's advice with something to pass along via the list: Hi All--My name is Drew Richard and I'm a doctoral student here in social anth, drafting my thesis. Although I previously lived in Duendin, I'm studying remotely for the moment, and would love the chance to check in with some of my fellow students from time to time via Zoom (it would provide a welcome morale boost while drafting). Please feel free to get in touch if occasionally checking in about our research and mutual interests appeals to you. Special shout-outs to any other students balancing parenthood with completing their studies, or any students interested in writing outreach pieces in the media (something I have a lot of experience with, and would be happy to help fellow students pursue).
And here's a version with 'Dunedin' spelled properly: Hi All--My name is Drew Richard and I'm a doctoral student here in social anth, drafting my thesis. Kia ora Dreux, Thank you so much for reaching out. I’m also a PhD student in Social Anthropology, currently based in Dunedin, though I’ll also be moving back and forth between China and Dunedin for fieldwork over the coming period. I heard you speak about your research and learned a little about your media writing previously at the Postgraduate symposium, and I found it incredibly interesting! I remember thinking at the time that there were probably some things we could talk about further, so was glad to see your message here. also agree with what you said about the importance of checking in with fellow students during the writing process. Recently I’ve also been wondering whether it might be nice to form a more informal and spontaneous online writing/check-in space together with others studying remotely. I’m also currently doing a lot more writing myself, and would love to hear more about your experience with writing outreach and media pieces as well. Anyway, I’d be very happy to join a Zoom catch-up sometime. My schedule is quite flexible at the moment — especially this weekend and next week — so I’d be happy to work around whatever time suits you best. : ) Ngā mihi nui, ----- Yueke Li黎越可 (Kezai 可仔) Kaituhi Rotarota • Tauira Kairangi • Kaiārahi Ngahere Kai Poet • Phd student • Food Forest Dreamer Te Mātai Tikaka Takata/ Social Anthropology Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka / University of Otago Website : www.kezai.site<https://apc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.kezai.site%2F&data=05%7C02%7Csocialanthpostgrads%40lists.otago.ac.nz%7C24a58150b3174eb2659008debb7c7399%7C0225efc578fe4928b1579ef24809e9ba%7C0%7C0%7C639154340344961741%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=a8nh%2F090UJxJHcbN9YtzrxZMPrFIAaBXs0tb4G3rIss%3D&reserved=0> Mobile : 027 421 1385 Email : liyu6226@student.otago.ac.nz<mailto:liyu6226@student.otago.ac.nz> From: Dreux Richard <thefireinutica@gmail.com> Sent: Wednesday, 27 May 2026 8:25 am To: socialanthpostgrads@lists.otago.ac.nz Subject: [Socialanthpostgrads] Re: Mutual support for remote anth student You don't often get email from thefireinutica@gmail.com<mailto:thefireinutica@gmail.com>.
